Festival

Eintopf—a multicultural site-specific festival (August/September 2025)

The festival will be held from August 30 to September 10, 2025, with the opening on September 6, 2025, 7PM.
During the festival evenings, there will be presentations by Polish and German artists.

At a historical moment when nationalist and separatist movements are on the rise, black-and-white narratives, divisions, populism, authoritarianism, violence, aggression, and war are being reinforced, and walls are being built at borders, we aim to address what we believe is most important — what unites us rather than divides us: proximity, relationships, and community. We want to create an artistic Polish-German gathering in a city marked by a difficult history of wars and partitions. A horizontal perspective is essential to us, allowing the voices of those on the periphery, margins, and edges to resonate.

Eintopf is a multicultural community festival, a horizontal and democratic space that facilitates encounters with local places and histories. It is open to what is invisible, erased, marginalised, and on the fringes of the mainstream.

Eintopf serves as a space for exchange and interaction with the city itself and with a German feminist group that has been working with found spaces for over thirty years. Two feminist art collectives will participate in the festival: Frakcja and Endmoräne. Both collectives focus on site-specific urban actions.

Eintopf is a one-pot dish — a meal prepared in a single pot. The festival’s name – a word of German origin used in the Lodz dialect – refers to the multiculturalism of Lodz. We want to highlight both the historical aspect of multiculturalism and its contemporary significance. Our goal is to unite, not divide; we aim to let the various perspectives and stories that emerge from the city’s fabric resonate. Above all, our festival seeks to create new artistic narratives that also reference the city’s textile history.
